Personal Progress Holder

I love these Personal Progress Holders. They are made to fit a YW Personal Progress Book, a journal, the For The Strength Of Youth pamphlet, and a pen or pencil. Here's a quick How To.

Materials:

2 coordinating fabrics 18 1/2 X 14 inches
Iron on interfacing
1 1/4 Yd of ribbon

1. Start by cutting all of your fabric to size.

2. Following manufacture's instructions iron your interfacing to the fabric you want to be on the inside of your PP holder.

3. Place your fabrics and interfacing right sides together and pin.

4. Sew around the edges using a 3/8 of an inch seam allowance leaving a 4 1/2 inch opening in the center of one of your long edges so that you can turn your holder inside out.

5. Clip the corners about an 1/8 of an inch away from the seam.

6. Inside it out and iron Seams. Make sure to iron your opening so that you can not see it.

7. Top stitch just along the edge with the opening from one end to the other. You will be top stitching the other 3 sides at another time.

8. Fold up the bottom edge which you have just top stitched by 5 5/8 of an inch. Pin in place.

9. Top stitch the edges starting from one side, going along the top, and down the other side with an 1/8 seam. Do not top stitch the bottom edge.

10. Now it's time to make your pockets. Mark your holders 5 1/2 inches in on both sides, tops and bottoms. You can mark it with pins or a disappearing sewer's pencil. If you use pins you can create a "line" by ironing a crease at the 5 1/2 inch line. Top stitch through all the layers to create your pockets. Make a new line 7/8 of an inch from the right pocket line to create your pencil pocket and top stitch.

11. Attach your ribbon in one of the the back seams by stitching over it a few times.

12. Insert your manuals and enjoy!
